Monday Midnight Music: “Zero Day” by Nothing

Relapse Records is releasing Dance on the Blacktop by Nothing, a band out of Philadelphia, on Aug. 24.

To pave the way, they released a video for the song “Zero Day.” It’s sort of like a metal version of shoegaze rock, which was popular in the late 1990s and early aughts.

Anyway, I haven’t heard anything else on the album or any other songs by them. But, I’ll probably look back at their discography for potential reviews. While it may not quench your heavy metal thirst, it’s got some good atmosphere and it’s nice to see an actual music video with a somewhat artistic approach, something we seem to be lacking since YouTube replace MTV as the primary outlet for visual musical expression.

The song itself is pretty eerie, feeling like a cold rainy day. That’s a good thing. When a song makes you feel or picture something, you know it’s good.

Until I saw this video, I thought the lead singer was the person wearing the woman mask on all the preview art.
