Throwback Thursday: ‘New Millennium Cyanide Christ’ by Meshuggah

Meshuggah have been on the metal scene long enough where bands who were influenced by bands they influenced are on the scene. While they first rose to prominence in the mid-1990s, they’ve been around since 1987.

“New Millennium Cyanide Christ,” from their 1998 album Chaosphere, gives you an idea what Meshuggah is all about. They have a distinct sound which is marked by its precision and heaviness, which is pretty common with bands today. But, you have to look back at Meshuggah for making the sound famous.

Another thing about Meshuggah is that they have a sense of humor, as evident by their video for “New Millennium Cyanide Christ.” It’s basically just a video, that looks like it was shot on VHS, of the band playing air instruments in a tour bus.

Anyway, good song. Check it out.
